Reviews
The food was very delicious and the waiters very kind. We dined here for four days, each time after a long ski session.
Andi and the wait staff are all wonderful. The food is great, especially love the tyrolean dishes.
This place has good food and drinks , dessert.
Had some visits where the staff was rushed and impatient but food shows up quick and is generally okay albeit not worth more than 3 stars.
.
Always a pleasure being here. Good quality food for a fair price. Friendly staff and wide variety of dishes. For lunch kitchen is open till 14 hours. Dinner at 18 hours or 20 hours in high season. Reservation for dinner in peak season is required. Some delightful dishes you have to order one day in advance but for sure it is worth it. Just have a look at the menu! One of the places you will visit more than once during your holiday.
Hotel Gastof Brixnerwirt is located by the main road right in the middle of its eponymous village, Brixen im Thal. It's central location comes with equal advantages and disadvantages. Early hastily commuters (neglecting the 40km speed limit) the over eager pastor ringing his loud church bells or even the snowplow clearing the road from the freshly fallen snow, might be some of the arguments to bring a pair of ear plugs. Being surrounded by a bunch of stores, banks, the bus stops and the skilift within walking distance, will save you gas from not using the car for the rest of your stay. Typical Tirol style mixed with today's modern accommodations will give you the instant cozy at home feeling. The bar and the dining room, decorated in the classic Austrian wooden style, attractiveness' wanna make you sit and enjoy a drink or a meal. The rooms are very spacious, excellent well equipped as they are snuggle comfortable. Our first floor bedroom came with a separate bathroom and toilet. A storage facility for both ski- and snowboard equipped with heated boot dryer system. The room was safely locked and only to be opened with the hotel's keycard.
Food wise left lot's of room for improvement though. We can put things in the right perspective knowing that our stay came with a very fair deal. But sure that I speak for most of the members of our group saying that we wouldn't have mind to have payed 10 - 15% more if this would have resulted in a more creative approach of what was served. OK, a stay in Austria implies eating at least one Wienerschnitzel per week and probably more potatoes than you'll have'm at home. But quite honestly the kook's poor choice in variety from the food triangle and colors was disappointing. Not to mention what was offered for the vegetarian among us. At least twice the mistake was made to put a meat or fish product on the menu. Beaf broth with slices of pancakes and smoked salmon are by definition a big no-no for any animal respecting vegie. Frying a falafel, some tofu or any other meat replacement wouldn't have killed anyone. But like I said part of the reason is certainly caused by it's budget. In overall we had a great stay at hotel Brixenwirt. Not the least thanks too the lovely staff and our enthusiastic waiters Mike and his colleagues.
Prices are good, some vegetarian options available, and the staff is friendly. Mushrooms were canned instead of fresh, which creates a slightly sour taste.
They do have a non-smoking room that is completely separate from the bar area /Zechstub'n so you don't have to endure the smoke while eating.
All the other (positive) reviews are spot on! Currently I'm staying at Brixenerwirt and it's great. While I am vegan they do/did great in creating a custom meal even while this is difficult to pay attention to as a hotel. The rooms are beautiful, new and very clean.
Also the personnel is very kind and makes your stay even more comfortable (especially the man that serves dinner).
I'd definitely recommend Brixenerwirt!
Felt like a tourist trap
